Even though it may be tempting to play hard to get, women don't appreciate being held on a string. If you were planning on telling her you'd call, and then waiting five days to pick up the phone, steer clear. This is likely to make her angry. Instead, tell her you'll give her a call soon, and follow through. If she acts blasé about the situation, take this as your cue to move on, and don't look back.
Capturing her heart
Nothing charms a woman like a good poem. Even if she's not the literary type, a few kind words go a long way. If the idea of writing a poem doesn't exactly fit your style, consider paying her some compliments. Tell your ex girlfriend that she's awesome. Don't tell her how indubitably great she is. This will make you sound cheesy. Just a few kind words go a long way.
However, if you are up for stretching your literary muscles, write down a few lines of prose or a rhyme that shows you care about her. If you need ideas, go to Google, and type in the keywords, "love poetry." This will pull up a bunch of love poems that will give you an idea about what to write.  Then, write down a few words, and build some ideas off of those keywords.
